A Charming Beach Shack On The Edge Of The Tasman Sea

Early in 2019, artist Ingrid Daniell awoke to a vivid aspiration. ‘I was standing on the edge of a reef and a whale passed by rolling above to look at me… it was 1 of those people stunning desires that stay with you, and you wish you could keep in,’ she claims. Ingrid and her partner, Clifton Daniell of Builtscape Layout Construction, went on to obtain the 1980s shack and title it Whale Music – a reference not only to Ingrid’s dream, but the numerous whales that migrate along the property’s ocean doorstep each year.

The shack was structurally audio at the time of acquiring, whilst considerably of the decking, roof, home windows and joinery needed changing. Clifton made the renovations himself, to be made by builder James Bennet.
