Heard About the Dog Selling a Mansion? It’s Fake

3 min read

The widely documented information: A German Shepard bought a Miami mansion once owned by Madonna. It’s not legitimate, and that story has been reappearing for 20 decades.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – For more than 20 yrs, a line of German shepherds named Gunther has been presented in information stories as the rich beneficiaries of a German countess.

The tale seems to be a ruse made by Maurizio Mian, the scion of an Italian pharmaceutical company, who has used the tale of the world-trotting canine to encourage authentic estate revenue and other tasks.

The Associated Press noted past week that a pet dog, Gunther VI, was providing a Miami mansion that it experienced procured from Madonna for $7.5 million in 2000 for $31.75 million. The story cited statements from Gunther’s “handler” that the puppy was from a very long line of dogs bequeathed the fortune of a German countess.

Whilst the mansion is in reality owned and staying sold by the Gunther Corp., according to Miami-Dade County house data, the dog’s position appears to be little more than a joke that’s carried on for a long time.

And there is no evidence of a German countess.

The AP noted on the tale soon after obtaining a press release from publicists symbolizing the actual estate brokers who experienced the listing.

“The AP printed a story that did not meet our specifications and should really not have been revealed. We did not do our thanks diligence in the reporting approach. We have corrected the tale, and we apologize,” AP spokeswoman Lauren Easton stated in a statement.

Mian informed an Italian newspaper in 1995 that the countess “was just an invention to publicize the philosophy” of his foundation. Mian at other details has claimed his confessions about the countess are the true hoax and the puppy tales are, in simple fact, true.

Mian’s personal cash seems to have appear from his family’s Italian pharmaceutical business. Istituto Gentili, which designed a remedy for the bone-weakening disease osteoporosis with the U.S. pharmaceutical large Merck, was acquired by Merck in 1997. An Italian cellphone selection stated for Mian was not answered Tuesday.

Responding to inquiries from the AP Tuesday about the veracity of the tale, Monica Tirado, director of the Gunther Group, said that Carla Riccitelli, who described herself to the AP as Gunther’s handler, is Mian’s “ex-lover.” Tirado stated that the organization couldn’t answer additional issues, such as about the tale of the German countess, due to the fact “there is an distinctive deal with a Netflix production.” A request for comment with Netflix to get particulars about any generation was not returned.

This is just the most up-to-date in a string of tales about Gunther told by Mian.

In 1999, The Miami Herald claimed that Gunther IV was seeking to purchase a mansion from actor Sylvester Stallone. The future day, the Herald reported that it was just a publicity stunt.

“If you want to create it is a joke, you can create that,” Mian explained to the Herald. “I won’t do anything.”

In Mian’s tale of the dogs, the Gunthers are supposedly supported by a multi-million dollar have confidence in set up by German countess Karlotta Liebenstein when she died in 1992 to treatment for her canine, Gunther III, and his progeny. The AP has identified no evidence that Liebenstein existed.
